Faded Rainbow is an Action RPG inspired by Toby Fox's DELTARUNE, Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts series and with the art direction inspired by Nintendo's Paper Mario

The story is about Pancake, the guardian of the Rainbow Crystal, going around Planet Value to collect the pieces of the Rainbow Crystal, and they meet friends and foes along the way.

Characters

Pancake

The main character, A Devil who doesn't know who they are, for they only know themselves as a Guardian.
They would learn who they want to be, not who they should be, and not who they were.
They're the leader of the 5 man band, and the heart, they're the reason why the others went on the journey.

Waffle

Pancake's first friend, An energetic Bunny who wants the best for everyone, and always wants Pancake to choose and try anything
Waffle was the one who brought an unconscious Pancake to his house to recover, and who helped Pancake give themselves a new name (it being Pancake)
Waffle is the support, and mage, so he always makes sure if everyone is ok

Cinnamon

The Arrow of Justice, She's a impulsive cat who strived to be a hero in the underground, but is forced to confront the complicated relationship with her loving yet neglectful mother.
She has a general people pleasing attitude and prefers to bottle up her emotions than cause problems, this doesn't go well with her grief-stricken mother who doesn't know what she wants of her daughter.
Cinnamon has a hyperfixation on archery, so her aim is really good.

Toast

A real boy, They're born as a Puppet that came to life, they're quiet but a smart kid who is faced with the unreal expectations of being a gifted child.
They just wants to be seen as a regular kid, but realizes that because of how they're born, its impossible. aka they have body dysphoria.
They use the carving knives that they were made from as weapons, so they're focused on close combat and tanking hits

Arc

The lone marksman, Hes a human with the love for shooting stuff, and also the "straight man" of the party, but a bit aggressive.
Despite his outer shell of apathy and aggressiveness, he has a heart of gold, although a lot of his answers to problems is violence, thats more to do because of his background of living in a war.
Hes very squishy (as hes a human) but can pack a punch with his guns.

The Turquoise Bandits

Three bandits who were hired by NULL to capture Pancake and the gang, but these bandits aren't as competent as NULL thought.

Pretzel

The counterpart to Cinnamon
hes a rash and impulsive Tanuki who likes to cause mischief.
despite that he deeply cares about his found family of outcast

Chip

The counterpart to Toast
hes a non-verbal Bear who is very protective for his brothers.

Candy

The counterpart to Waffle
hes a kind fox and the passive one of the three bandits, as he doesn't necessarily want to be a bandit, but only wants to do it because it makes his brothers happy.

NULL

The Main Villan. The embodiment of Darkness and Emptiness.
As the adventure continues, NULL tries to get Pancake to join him, to be what Pancake is made for, to be NULL's right hand man.
NULL always calls Pancake by their original name, even at Pancake's insistence.

Chapters

like Deltarune and Paper Mario, the game is split into chapters

  1. Red - The two heroes must climb up the volcano and get the Rainbow Shard from Rattletail
  2. Orange - The two heroes fall into the underground where they meet an abrasive cat (Cinnamon) who has a complicated relationship with her mother
  3. Yellow - The Chroma Crew trudges through a desert to infiltrate the labyrinth of a chapel that is the base of operations for the Nullalans
  4. Green - The heros meet a new friend (Toast) who wants to be more than just a living puppet
  5. Cyan - Through a winter war, the heroes meet an apparent level-headed human (Arc) who wants to kick NULLs ass
  6. Blue - Into an abandoned laboratory, Pancake learns of the inner workings of a NOTHING and also encounters what NULL wants pancake to be...
  7. Purple - The heroes go through an old castle of a fallen king for the semi-final shard, finding out that the castle might not be as dead as once believed...
  8. Black - Pancake must finally face NULL and all of their pain of their lonely past, by moving through the once empty home for the devil...
